Volunteering has a substantial and positive impact on society. But many are also the individual benefits for those involved in volunteer activities.

So what does the volunteer do?

The volunteer knows his personal abilities and his limits and he discovers aspects of himself that he did not know before. Develop lifelong learning skills related to time management, responsibility, project completion, decision making and problem solving

The awareness of the bond with the community as well as the belief that we all have social responsibility encourages the development of a conscious attitude of life characterized by a keen interest in fellow human beings and commitment to serving purposes that promote social well-being.

Through engaging in volunteer activities, he gains a positive image of himself and confidence about his abilities. The sense of utility in the community is more satisfying and more readiness to take initiatives.

Through volunteering, experience and expertise are gained, as well as knowledge of their professional choices. These experiences are important for the enrichment of the curriculum vitae, but also the circle of professional contacts that may be useful in the future.

Exposure to new situations and young people can lead to new knowledge and skills while developing skills in co-operation and collaboration with people of different backgrounds. Those who participate in voluntary activities acquire new interests and stimuli for what’s happening around them. The rich experiences, the new roles and the alternation of situations offered by the volunteer work are valuable for human development

The volunteer has a momentum that can be an example for others. The participation of young people in volunteering can be particularly valuable to them as well as to society in general. The enthusiasm, the fresh ideas and the skills that young people have (especially in new technologies) can, with appropriate education and guidance, have tremendous benefits for society.

Finally, volunteering enables young people to come together with other generations and work with them to achieve common goals.

In this way, adults learn to respect the view of young people while young people feel they can influence their society and their voice is heard.
